Phase 01 · 2017 – 2018

The Graphic Design Genesis: Logos, Print Press & Typography

My journey began not with code, but with pixels, vectors, and ink. Working with small business owners along River Road and Upper Hill in Nairobi, I designed over 300 corporate identities, event posters, vehicle wraps, and marketing collateral.

The Core Revelation: Design is not visual decoration—it is psychological hierarchy, contrast, and instant credibility. This graphic foundation gave me an unmatched instinct for UI/UX that most purely backend engineers lack.

Phase 02 · 2019 – 2020

The Code Migration: Semantic HTML, Custom CSS & 38 Client Builds

Clients kept asking: "Can you build our website to look as sharp as the brand manual you gave us?" I refused to use slow, bloated page builders that weighed 12 megabytes. I taught myself semantic HTML5, CSS3, vanilla JavaScript, and WordPress theme architecture from the ground up.

Phase 03 · 2021 – 2022

The FinTech Transformation: Full-Stack Laravel & Safaricom Daraja STK

Static sites weren't enough. Kenyan commerce runs on M-Pesa. I dove into backend engineering with PHP 8, Laravel, relational database modeling in MySQL, and direct integration with Safaricom Daraja 2.0 API.

Enterprise Architecture: Offline PWAs, KRA eTIMS & Distributed Systems

Moved to enterprise infrastructure: Next.js, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, and hardware interfaces. Engineered point-of-sale systems with offline-first IndexedDB caches that keep cashiers selling during fiber outages, plus automated KRA eTIMS tax integration.
